Katie Beth Finds Modeling Success in Sweet Home Alabama

Katie Beth (OMP Model #14836) was one of the first models to join OneModelPlace.com, and has become one of the most popular models on the site.

The Alabama resident remembers exactly how she was introduced to OMP. “I discovered OneModelPlace.com through some of my photographer friends. One photographer especially helped me set up my portfolio page. Since I joined, OMP has been a good friend to me for many years. I live in a small town, and the site gave me a chance to be seen and find work. That would have been hard to do without OMP!”

She got interested in modeling shortly before her 16th birthday. “I saw a Model Look magazine, and decided I wanted to try that. So my mom and dad helped me get some pictures taken and we sent them in. Model Look included me in one of their issues, and after that I started getting  contacted by different photographers.”

Katie Beth has mastered the art of being professional on photo shoots while also enjoying the experience. “I work hard to get the correct shot, and  always try to be on time (which is important), while at the same time I like to have fun!”

She lists some of her favorite shoots and credits. “I would have to say my most favorite shoot was the 2006 West Coast chopper shoot! I was Miss June! Jessie James is awesome, and we had so much fun! It was a trip I will never forget. I also had a great time doing my FHM shoot! I went to New York for the assignment, and had a blast!! I was actually featured in FHM magazine twice!”

Katie Beth likes to prepare ahead of time for photo shoots. “I will talk with the photographer, set up the time and place, talk about wardrobe, and confirm the payment rate. I also let them know I am bringing someone with me. I never go to a shoot alone, unless I know the photographer really well.”

During a session, the model makes sure to pay attention to what is needed for the project. “I always make sure to follow direction. The photographer is the one behind the camera, and he knows what makes the best shot, so I listen carefully when he suggests something.”

Katie Beth admits that there are both ups and downs when it comes to living the modeling lifestyle. “I love meeting and working with great people, making lifelong friends, and building my self-confidence. But modeling can be very hard work, and takes dedication.”

Her advice for aspiring models is direct and to the point. “Practice, practice, practice! Make sure you research the photographer, and  check references. And just remember modeling is fun, but hard work. I think sometimes I just happen to be in the right place at the right time. I don’t think of myself as anything special, just blessed. I will never forget some of the experiences I have had, along with the great people I have met and places I have gone!”

Katie Beth also has an important suggestion for photographers to remember when working with models. “Don’t forget to take breaks! I have been on eight-hour shoots without eating or taking a break, and that can wear a model down.”
