Rod Stafford Hagwood,, columnist for the Sun Sentinel, reports that Tyra Banks, uber-model and media tycoon, will introduce her young adult fantasy novel with a series of in-store appearances. She will be in South Florida next week at Neiman Marcus Bal Harbour on Monday, Sept. 19. The event will begin at 6pm.
The star of The CW’s “America’s Next Top Model” says she spent five years conceiving and writing her first book of fiction, titled “Modelland.” The book, aimed at young readers age 12 and up, tells the story of Tookie De La Crème, a 15-year-old aspiring model with a large forehead who receives an invitation to a mysterious place atop a mountain called… you guessed it, Modelland. It is intended to be the first in a series of three books.
To attend the event, you must buy a ticket, which is the price of the $17.99 book. You get the autographed copy at the event.
You may purchase tickets at Books & Books Bal Harbour Shops, next door to Neiman Marcus on the second level, or at the bookstores in Coral Gables and Miami Beach. You can also order them online at BooksAndBooks.com.
If you can’t make the event but still want an autographed copy, call 305-864-4241 to pre-pay.
