OneModelPlace.com members may want to look through their old photos in hopes of finding a treasure, like photographer Mike Mitchell did recently. He had a series of photos which had been gathering dust in a basement for more than 40 years. Now Mitchell has decided to auction a group of pictures that capture the moment the Beatles became a worldwide phenomenon.
The photos are from a collection of photos of The Beatles shot by Mitchell at the Washington Coliseum in Washington, D.C. The pictures were taken at a news conference before the group gave its first US concert, two days after their Ed Sullivan appearance. Taken when the photographer was just 18 years old, these images will be auctioned by Christie’s in their sale, “The Beatles Illuminated: The Discovered Works of Mike Mitchell,” in New York on July 20, 2011.
