OneModelPlace.com members better start bracing themselves for year-end lists as well as decade-end lists. At least this list is industry-related: Gisele Bündchen has been named the Top Model of the Decade by Style.com. Gisele’s high-profile campaigns include Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Victoria’s Secret, and Versace.
According to the article, Gisele Bündchen needn’t have a last name at all: That body, the golden glow, and those beachy waves are synonymous with the mere mention of the Brazilian bombshell’s oft-mispronounced first name (it’s zhi-zhe-lee in her mother tongue).
The highest-paid model of all time, Bündchen earned a pair of Victoria’s Secret Angel wings in 2000, rendering mere catwalking a trivial pursuit. She retired from the runway in 2001 only to un-retire the following year by opening the Christian Dior Fall show.
Eight years, 500 international magazine covers, and an eponymous flip-flop line for Brazilian brand Ipanema later, and she’s hung up her walking shoes for real after giving birth to her first child with NFL star Tom Brady. But considering how quickly her body bounced back, another un-retirement isn’t entirely out of the question.
