Model Polina Brings International Flair to Photo Shoots

Polina Such (OMP Model #428833) has wanted to be a model for as long as she can remember. Her lifelong wish came true five years ago when she was able to pursue modeling fulltime.

Born and raised in Omsk, Russia, Polina comes from a large extended family. Her father is a photographer, which helped her get comfortable in front of the camera. “He used to take many pictures of me as I was growing up. That sparked my interest in posing for the camera. Later I began to model full-time, while also continuing my studies. I went to school in my native city, and booked assignments in places such as Moscow, Paris, China, and New York. During my travels, I have participated in many international events for models, and I have had contracts with many agencies from all over the world.”

Polina has found a good balance in her life. “I am enjoying every minute of it. I really enjoy modeling and have discovered it is a constant learning process. I learn so much every day about all the aspects of modeling, beyond posing. I enjoy seeing all the behind-the-scenes processes that photographers, stylists and everyone else goes through to bring an image to life. The process inspires me, and makes me work harder to help create new visions. “

The transplanted New Yorker loves the fact that she has been able to meet so many talented and creative people in the industry. “Beyond the work is the fun. I enjoy traveling, and modeling has allowed me to travel a great deal. I’ve worked in New York, Los Angeles, France, Italy, China, Germany, and other countries. It’s nice to be exposed to all the different cultures and meeting different people everywhere I go. I’ve heard that, for some people, it takes a while to discover and decide what they want to do with their life. I found out pretty early what I want to do, and I get to do that all the time now. For that, I feel I am very lucky.”

She describes herself as very easygoing and open-minded when working on assignments. “My favorite style is fashion and beauty — some of my favorite photographers have amazing fashion and beauty styles. But I am very comfortable with my body and also do classic nudes. Also, I have shot for Body Magazine, which focused on lingerie and glamour styles.”

Polina stays in contact with each photographer and makes sure to touch base with them a few days before the shoot. “I always prefer to discuss details with each photographer before a shoot, so that we get the best results. It takes a lot of energy and professionalism, not only from model but also from the other people who are working backstage before a shoot. To get amazing images, I prefer to have a makeup artist and wardrobe stylist. But if it’s not possible to have an MUA and other people to assist for the shoot, I can do makeup and hair for myself.”

The tall, lithe model shares a few of the rewards and challenges of modeling. “I look at my modeling career as not only something fun to do with my life, but also as a way to help people. I am able to help my family, and I hope one day to be able to use my fame to help others, especially children.”

Polina’s advice to other models is simple and straightforward. “I would just suggest that they be open-minded all the time, work hard, and make smart decisions. Hopefully all of your dreams will become real.”

She discovered One Model Place through a photographer friend. “I received some great offers from modeling agencies and photographers through One Model Place. I am glad that so many people from the modeling industry are able to see my portfolio on this website.”
